Why We Need World Breast Pumping Day

baby By January 24, 2018 1 Comment

The breastfeeding world can be noisy and overwhelming. Sometimes it’s exclusionary, especially for women who don’t exclusively breastfeed their babes straight from the breast. The way we choose to feed our babies is a personal decision. There is no one-size-fits-all solution. Parents have to decide what will work best for their babies, their families, and themselves. It can be a challenging decision. That difficult choice can be made even more difficult by feeling ostracized or judged if the chosen feeding method isn’t what society has deemed is “best.”

Besides them happening super-fast (both under 5 hours) I had two perfectly ‘normal’ births. This term is relative, of course. While scary and new and a tad painful, it’s hard to imagine how my experience would have changed with just one complication. In contrast to my own, so many new mothers are unable to hold their babies right after birth. Many don’t get a chance to follow a carefully thought out birth plan. Not only have we purchased and prepared these delicacies, but we know that learning is enhanced when tummies are full.

Your mind responds strongly to visual stimulation, so not only does the process cement your goals in your mind, but seeing your board in a prominent place triggers this visual cue.

The face that maybe hasn’t had a good night sleep since forever. The face that is stressed by all the holiday obligations but still secretly enjoys every second of the merry madness.
