Women Who Rise Above

Seen By September 12, 2017 No Comments

I love that in the work I do, I get to interact with all sorts of fierce, amazing women. They have dreams, goals and things they are determined will get done. They are raising their kids, building their brands and making life better where they can. That drive and ambition is infectious. Netflix has a whole bunch of movies that celebrate fearless ladies like this:

It’s unavoidable – we are all getting older. The good news is we are learning new things and becoming the people we want to be. There is so much change. Perspectives, priorities, likes and dislikes as we gain experience. What else changes is our health and wellness needs change. The best thing you can do for yourself is to be prepared for what your body needs now and what it’s going to need in the future.

Yes, Balancing Nature and Technology is Possible!

I am not a very black and white person, and my parenting style reflects this. Sometimes I think it would be easier to guide with a bit more discipline and less flexibility, but I tend to parent with much more fluidity then rules and regulations. One area where this has been a challenge is in monitoring the use of technology for my children and learning what is appropriate and what is not.

Movie Night Goes Italian

International By July 31, 2017 No Comments

My family and I have been travelling in Europe and I want to keep that magic alive when we get home. That’s why I’ve assembled a play list of movies about Italy so I can remember our trip and the beauty of a country I am so in love with. I remember 15 years ago, when I was in Italy, buying Italian bridal magazines because my husband and I had just gotten engaged. Now, travelling there with my kids, it was so special to share the magic of Italy with them.

Here’s what Netflix has to watch about Italy:

Saving Money So Your Family Can Live The Fullest Life

I remember as a little girl, dressing up to go to the bank. It wasn’t as fancy as Easter Sunday, but close. I had three tiny bank books in hand: ‘checking’, ‘savings’ and ‘long-term savings’. None of the accounts had much in them but the bank tellers assumed I was learning a ton and thought I was cute. Getting one’s bank book updated and waiting patiently in line was apparently a super-engaging kid activity. Sometimes I wouldn’t go for a few months and each interest payment would take so much time to print. Line by line. One cent, two cents…my family was very frugal and budgeted impeccably in order to save for vacations and big purchases.

Talking To Your Dad On Father’s Day

health By June 12, 2017 No Comments

Father’s Day is a great reminder of how important our dads are. Even as adults, raising our own kids, they have a place in our lives and taking the time to nurture that bond is crucial as we and our dads age. It can be easy to rely on the relationships we have built over time and go into autopilot with making connections, but there is so much we can learn if we take the time to listen to the insights they’ve gained since we spent so much time sitting on their knees. Taking the time to get to know the man our dads have become is a great way to learn more about ourselves and our own futures. My husband is a great dad and my boys are so lucky to have him. Let’s face it, dads are special.

Allergy Season Doesn’t Have To Be Terrible

If a mom sneezes when her kids are too busy playing outside to hear her, does it make a sound? Spring and summer are great opportunities to get out and play with your kids. It’s no fun if sneezing leaves you on the sidelines. They only want to play with you for so long before we become “embarrassing” and “no fun ever.” Take advantage while you can. Make hay while the sun shines, so to speak 😉 Speaking of hay, how about that hay fever, eh?
