Pregnancy is not the time to diet to loose or control weight.  If you are on a restrictive diet prior to conception this should be liberalized once pregnancy occurs.  Women who are on special diets for health concerns (i.e. diabetes, food allergy) need to continue their regular diet until they see their doctor or caregiver.

During pregnancy women should follow a well balanced healthy diet with lots of fruit and vegetables, some protein containing foods, and some carbohydrates-just as doctors suggest for non-pregnant patients to maintain their health.
