Stephanie: Week 7

exercise-cartoonGive it another Shot:  In a world filled with PVR’s and Liposuction we can have anything we want with the touch of a remote control or the swipe of a debit card. Instant gratification has damaged our ability to use effort to achieve what we want. Let’s face it…if I didn’t win Fitness on the Go trainer for free I most likely would not have made it past that difficult and defeating first workout. I was determined to work hard but was so embarrassed by my first time performance that I felt crushed by disappointment. But, I got back up onto that pull up bar thanks to the support of my family, a little rationalization and knowing that all the wonderful women that didn’t win might resent me if I wasted this opportunity. Or at very least they might try to assume my identity to get some workouts and nike shoes.

Stephanie's Exercise of the Week – Row the Boat

Uncategorized By March 8, 2010 Tags: , , , 2 Comments

Exercise of the Week:  Row, Row, Row the boat.

Fitness on the Go also offers sessions to train with a friend. So I invited my friend, neighbor and fellow Top 10 finalist Sarah to participate in a workout so we could learn some useful partner exercises. Sarah is a wonderful mother that is trying, like all of us, to get back in shape after having 3 kids.

Exercise of the week: Plank

Trying to squeeze back in your pre pregnancy jeans can be a struggle for some. I have found the Plank exercise to be very helpful in getting me back into those Jeans this week!

The plank position will also do wonders for your core muscles which in turn will help protect your back from injuries when hauling your groceries into the house.

Priorities Schmiorites

My muscles were so fatigued in the days following my second workout that I couldn’t find the strength to put the fitted sheet onto my mattress. Instead I just threw a flat sheet on top and slept on that. Doing up the snaps on M’s onsie sent twinges of pain up my overworked arms and into my shoulder blades. Even going to the washroom posed a problem. I am now considering just wearing a moo moo everywhere.

ex_barbie_workoutDoes Barbie ever get winded?

“I think I am going to puke”

Did I say this?

a)     5 minutes into the workout
b)    15 minutes into the workout
c)     50 minutes into the workout

If you said b you are correct. I said “be right back” to my trainer, Stuart, as I wobbled to my patio door, opened it as wide as I could to breathe in the cold air in hopes of settling my nauseous stomach.

Michelle: Week 2

fitness for new momsI’ve been a little blasé about the 2010 Olympics coming to Vancouver but as time has ticked on, I’m a little upset with myself that I couldn’t have been more excited from the beginning.  It was opening ceremonies tonight, and because my rabbit ears didn’t pick up the Official Olympic channel we decided to watch it live on the computer. My whole family was snuggled on the couch watching a small screen as athletes poured into the stadium. Teams of over 150, and teams of just 1, and I sat there trying to imagine what they must be feeling.

Panty by PostOh la la!  Opening the mail has never been so exciting.  Instead of bills and flyers, what appeared in my mailbox today?  Nothing other than the sexiest, frilly French panties that I have ever seen.  Panty by Post is the brainchild of Natalie Grunberg and Lori Sholzberg, and in our estimation, will up Canada’s birthrate by alot.  Great as a gift delivered monthly, you can order one, six or twelve pairs of sexy panties.  Sure to boost your self esteem during the pregnancy or postpardom period, the marketing for the company features naturally beautiful women who are not airbrushed.  Fabulous!

Q – How can I look better in the transition stage after having a baby?

A – Don’t assume that just because baby is out that you’ll be right back in your old clothes. Instead, give yourself at least 4 months before trying anything on. Know that Loose and baggy doesn’t have to equal frumpy.

Try pairing a tunic or a long sweater with black stretch pants and high boots. Empire waist dresses do marvels to widdle the middle and draw attention to the ‘right’ areas.

Pregnancy Party Attire

Q – What can I wear for parties while pregnant?

A – A mini dress. If you have the legs and the confidence.. Nothing takes away form a prego bellie then a hot little mono toned mini dress. Pair it with a high stilettos or a sexy boot.  For this season, you could also try a flowing maxi dress, or for a more tame occassion, a great maternity suit with a ’40s brooch clipped to the lapel.

Hushamok Baby Hammock

Hushamok
Well, we certainly had babies who just wouldn’t sleep and did our fair share of sling-carrying, hammock sleeping, and rocking for hours.  If only this had been available.  Much like the Amby Bed from Dr. Sears, the Hushamok is a super-stylish alternative which will help to lull infants to sleep in a snug cocoon.  It comes with 2 sheets, a travel bag, and a hip stand.
