You should have your blood glucose levels checked before you get pregnant so that they can be stabilized prior to you conceiving. If you are already pregnant make sure your glucose levels are checked regularly during pregnancy by your health care provider. During pregnancy, regular exercise becomes very important in stabilizing blood glucose levels. Walking daily for 20-30 minutes and prenatal yoga are some types of activity you may want to try. Make sure you are eating every 3 hours and have protein with every meal and snack. Good sources of protein include egg whites, turkey, low fat ricotta, nuts, seeds and protein shakes. Fiber is also important so increase intake of whole grains, beans and lentils. Nutritional supplements are effective in stabilizing blood glucose with the above recommendations. A Naturopathic Physician will be able to develop a plan that is right for your situation.
