Not only is this recipe healthy and super easy to make, it is always a favourite snack or appetizer to make before dinner.  No one ever believes that this dip is simple to make.

  • 1 can of chick peas drained (keep a few table spoons of the chick pea liquid)
  • ¼ cup of tahini paste (you can find this everywhere now, it’s usually with the peanut butter or in the organic section)
  • Juice of 1 lemon (I use lemon juice in a bottle if I have no lemons handy)
  • 3-5 cloves of garlic (depends on how garlicky you like your hummus)
  • ½ tsp. of salt
  • 1 tsp. of cumin

If possible, use a hand blender over a food processor, as it’s easier to clean and blend with. Blend all ingredients together until smooth. Refrigerate until you are ready to serve. Serve with kalamata olives and pita bread (we use scissors to cut it up, and then lightly bake the ‘chips’).
