I love to read and I love to watch Netflix. A lot of shows and movies were based on really great books. It’s hard to know whether it’s better to read a book first or see the movie adaptation, or if one ruins the other or makes it better. Are you excited to find more details in the book, or disappointed they were left out of the movie? Whichever your preference, this is a list of movie and TV adaptations of books that you can find on Netflix:

Eat Pray Love

Elizabeth Gilbert’s memoir of the same name was brought to life by the ever talented Julia Roberts and an engaging supporting cast. Spanning America, Itali, Bali and India, this adventure of global exploration is also one of self-exploration (with a love story for good measure.)

To Kill A Mockingbird

Remember this book from English literature class? The classic 1962 film is an interpretation of a book that almost everyone has read, that dared to ask big questions and continues to teach important lessons to this day.

Goosebumps

A bit more modern are the television and movie adaptations of the children’s thriller series Goosebumps, written by R.L. Stine. These offerings are 20 years apart, illustrating the ongoing appeal of these say but exciting reads among kids across generations. Being scared can be fun!

The Fault In Our Stars

This young adult novel turned movie is a heartbreaking story of love and life for two teens with cancer. A wildly popular novel, it was rendered into movie form which was also very successful.

Sometimes it can be hard to decide if you want to curl up with a book or watch a movie. With book adaptations on Netflix, the good news is you don’t have to choose. Which will you enjoy?
