How to be a Yummy Mummy
Have you noticed that ‘momming’ is not only big business, but it has gained an increasing amount of sex appeal and glamour in the past decade? Gone are the frumpy Moo Moos and demure floral prints in XL sizes that we were once expected to wear. Enter the Yummy Mummy. While some find this term derogatory, we have a very positive image of this fabulous woman. Pregnancy is a time of change and can ground you firmly to your past and future. Your body is beautiful as it grows. You are special. And you deserve to feel sexy and gorgeous. Our Yummy Mummy Tips: Read more
Wrap Dresses
What better garment could there be than a wrap dress? At your slimmest, it looks great and accentuates the waist as you grow.. or shrink. Cleavage is accentuated (even if there is a lack of it), and you look like a lady – at her sexiest. Diane von Furstenburg is, of course, the queen of the wrap dress. Holt Renfrew and Wear Else carry her designs. If you happen to be at Superstore and see one designed by Joe Mimran, snatch them up in every colour. Read more
Aviator Sunglasses
What do Angelina, Marlon Brando, and Lauren Hutton have in common? (Besides the obvious?) Aviator Sunglasses. One trick for pregnancy and transition is to go all black, and accessorize like crazy. Mommy, meet your newest accessory. xx
When will I start Needing Maternity Clothes?
A. You will probably not need maternity clothes until your second trimester if this is your first pregnancy. You won’t see a lot of big changes to your body immediately. It is safe to say most women can wear their regular clothes for the first 16 weeks. You may even be able to get away with going up a size in your normal pants for a few more weeks past that. Usually around week 24, your belly will “pop out” and your regular clothing will begin to feel tight.
The UrbanMommies shopping guidelines will be able to help you stay on track for what you need and you should also check Inexpensive Maternity Clothes.

Pregnancy and Fall Fashion Trends
After a gorgeous luncheon last week with Lisa Tant, Editor-in-Chief of Flare Magazine, it was time to transfer inspiration into a revamp of the closet. Hosted at Vancouver’s Wear Else, I was in a mecca of fashion, and all I wanted to do was hit the changing rooms. The first fall season while I haven’t been pregnant or attempting to drop baby weight, and, as luck would have it, it’s a particularly stellar year for pregnancy and postpartum dressing. Gone are the gladiator sandals, the cut-off tights and the butt/thigh-hugging shirts (thank you very much). Read more
