SLEEP:A window on infant and young children's development
Instructional Resources Centre – Lecture Theatre 6 (Woodward Building)
2194 Health Sciences Mall, UBC Point Grey Campus,
March 8, 2-3pm
The area of sleep for infants and children is an exciting and sometimes controversial topic. Parents are often bombarded with many messages about sleep, some contradictory, others negative and blaming. Dr. Wendy Hall, at the UBC School of Nursing, has been undertaking research in the area of infant sleep since 2001 and has assisted many families in British Columbia with their infants’ and pre-schoolers’ sleep problems. This public presentation will provide answers to a number of questions. Why do we care about infants’ and children’s sleep? What are considered normal amounts of sleep for infants and children? Why is fragmented sleep a potential problem for older infants and young children? What are some ways to assist infants and children to sleep? There will be time set aside for the audience to raise questions and concerns. For more info please call 604-822-1409 or email ONRTS@nursing.ubc.ca
